2018/19 Start of Season News

25+ at ladies’ touch rugby again this week. Then we had our contact session where suddenly all the aggression comes out. First experience of scrums for them all this week!

We are getting great numbers at the girl’s sessions and are looking now at possibilities for u18s group. Two of our Alton College students ran a stall at the sports fair to recruit more Alton College students. Anyone under 18 can come along between 6 and 7 pm then stay in for touch.

We have expanded the Ladies and Girls coaching team, we now have Kathleen Digby as Head Coach with Ellie Shrimpton, Nick Digby and Amy Sly on the coaching team. Lou Morrish has stepped up as Team Manager.

The Ladies play Farnham in the first match of the newly created Hampshire Surrey Border league (If you make it they will come!) on Tuesday 18th September KO 19:00 (bar open afterwards). So, if anyone is wondering what the strange pitch is on the floodlit area it’s a touch pitch!

We are very excited at the way our ladies’ and girl’s sections are developing. We also have the RFU community coach running sessions at Amery Hill on a Thursday after school and hoping to do the same at Eggars to recruit more girls.

Alton RFC Ladies and Girls Head Coach
