The first lorry arrived just before 08:00 this morning with the first 20 tonnes of sand. 3 hours and 9 lorry loads later we had 180 tonnes of sand tipped in two big heaps between pitch 1 and pitch 2.

In the meantime a tractor and spreader had been delivered and was in action spreading the sand on pitch 1. Martin Whapshott from Alton Town Council Ground Staff driving the spreader and our very own Jamie Legg operating the loader.

A 18:00 this evening pitch 1 was covered in sand and Martin and Jamie were adding more sand to the harder used areas to use up the small remaining heap of the 90 tonnes allocated for that pitch.

Tomorrow they will complete this stage of the project by spreading 90 tonnes of sand on pitch 2.
