Day 4 and the heap of sand in Anstey Park has gone! Spreading is complete on both pitches 1 & 2. Where did 180 tonnes of sand go?
After a problem with the spreader today, which required the hire company engineer, the final two loads of sand have been spread on pitch 2 and this stage of the work is complete. The sand will be left to fully dry over the weekend and then on Monday a chain harrow will be dragged over both pitches to ensure the sand fills all those holes made by the verti-drainer.
Then we wait for rain - unlikely over the next two weeks - but when it is forecast, the day before, pitches 1 & 2 will be seeded and fertilised to increase the grass coverage over the next few months, ready for next season.
Also over the last two days the verti-drainer has been used to punch holes in the training area and in pitches 3 & 4 which will help the drainage there too.
