Convincing Win for Alton U14 B's

A strong performance from the Alton pack saw the boys run out 27 - 19 victors in this friendly fixture.

Running in 5 tries, 3 from first phase ball, Ellingham & Ringwood could not match the power of the Alton pack who dominated the scrums. Excellent play from a 5m lineout saw Josh Kent drive over the line to score. After several good phases of recycling Matt Smoothy crossed the line under the posts followed by some good passing play from the backs to put Rory Taylor over in the corner.

The second half continued the theme of strong forwards play with Number 8, Jamie Pickett, taking a pick and go from a scrum on the 22m line to produce a strong run through several defenders to score. Roman Gardner added the extras with a well executed conversion from a difficult angle.

For a short period the boys switched off, thinking they had comfortably won the game, only to concede 3 tries in quick succession. They realised their error and switched back on with more strong forward play. A lineout midway into E&Rs half produced a great catch and maul with the pack making a strong drive to gain ground and release Luke Kereti to drive over the line from short range.

The team continues to grow in confidence. Well done boys!
