A game of three halves!

Our U14's demonstrated the strength and depth in our squad today with a well deserved 39-20 win over Camberley.

The game was played in three 20 minute "halves". Alton dominated in the first 20 minutes, with Matt Smoothy getting the first points on the board, scoring a try after a characteristic run beating several defenders. Three more tries followed, one each for Luke Kereti and James Richardson, along with a penalty try (which otherwise would have been scored by Matthew Hodges). With one conversion for Roman Gardner (and the 7 points for the penalty try), the score at the first break was 24-0.

The second 20 minutes saw Camberley strengthen their playing squad and it was their turn to score four tries but not without Alton answering with a try of their own; a lovely pass back inside from Roman Gardner to James Richardson, who had picked a fantastic line to burst through the defence and score his second of the day, allowing Alton to keep their noses ahead 29-20 at the next break.

In the final 20 minute "half" Alton took control again and snuffed out Camberley's improved attack, preventing them from scoring any more points. Alton, however, added two more scores to their tally, both tries for Matthew Salisbury. For the first, Salisbury reacted quickly to a lose ball on the ground on Camberley's five meter line, tapping it through and diving to ground the ball. The second came from a lovely interception by Josh Law who then charged up the pitch with Salisbury in support, off loading at the perfect moment to give Salisbury an easy run in.

An all round team effort to come away 39-20 victors. Well done boys!
