Alton returned to winning ways in the league with a convincing win over Andover at Andover. The Alton side dominated every aspect of play with all 23 players making a huge impact on the field. The outstanding try came from hooker Harry Thomas, running in from his own 10 meter line, side-stepping backs and forwards with grace to score under the posts ( It really was 60 meters). The skipper led from the front supported ably by the returning Niall Fife, with Ollie scoring 3 tries. If only he was old enough to be buying the jug. The improved focus from the squad was noticeable, both in terms of commitments, numbers and their focus and drive in all aspects of the game.
I also have to mention 3 of our younger squad members who stood out from the crowd today, Alex Lewis, Ollie (Mariano) Fellows, and Felix Sadovich, all of whom were exceptional on the day. Next week offers up a friendly against Petersfield where the continued drive seen today, will I hope continue.
Great display today, making it a pleasure to coach such a talented group of players.
