In the opening game of the league season Alton simply failed to deliver on the short spells of outstanding rugby shown. Alton started the first half in great fashion, with an attack that took the team through 4 phases through the length of the field resulting in a great team try. Hopes were high for a strong performance. Unfortunately Alton slowly regressed to a much more passive and mostly unstructured display for the large part of the game, waking up only in the later part of the game.
A lot to work on from some glimmers of what was excellent play. Onwards and upwards to Winchester next week and the opportunity to address the balance.
