Alton Colts travelled to Winchester after a loss the previous week and knowing the Winchester squad had comfortably beaten Havant the same weekend. With a depleted squad due to injury Alton arrived at Winchester with 20 players , 2 of which did do warm up due to injury and would play no part in the game.
This was going to be a day when heart and passion for the Alton badge would be needed. Alton started with the front foot intensity that impressed and battled hard on the gain line winning many of the contacts. Half time saw the game evenly poised at Winchester 7- Alton 8. 1 try a piece with an Alton penalty making the one point difference. The second half saw Alton score 3 more tries from some impressive back line and individual play, only being answered with 2 from Winchester.
Many of the Alton players were out on their feet, a mix of effort and fitness, but a sign that they had worked hard for the full game.
Final score Winchester 19- Alton 25, and a bonus point win.
