A dominant Alton Colts Performance 54 - 5

It was clear from the warm up that the Colts were in the right frame of mine to play. A dominant first 20 minutes saw Alton score two great tries quickly followed by a third. The first Half finished 26 -0 after Alton had displayed their best performance of the season. All 22 squad members were involved in the first half and everyone had given 100%. Scot Lawes, starting his first game for over a year, not that you would have noticed, along with Charlie Warner broke the gain line time and time again.
To Newburys' credit they continued to play for the full 70 minutes, although every attack until the last 5 minutes resulted in a dominant Alton defence making tackle after tackle and winning the battle on the gain line.
Final score was 54-5 in Alton's favour who march on to the next round of the Ntional U18 Cup. Next week sees a return to league action v Andover at Anstey. Bringing the form displayed today to the league fixture will I'm sure present a very different challenge for Andover than the first meeting earlier in the season.
