From the kick off Oxford Harlequins applied immense pressure to Alton through a very direct and physical Oxford pack. The controlled aggression in both attack and defence was by far the best Alton have seen this season. The Alton pack absorbed wave after wave of attack through the forwards but did not take a step backwards. Charlie Warner and Ollie Andrews delivered a defensive master class all day.
Half time saw Alton leading with a slender advantage. Alton managed territory through the cultured boot of Harry Faulkner who was instrumental in gaining Alton attacking position throughout the game.
The final score from Alton came from the last play of the game. A well won lineout just outside the Oxford 22 saw Faulkner again through hands this time set free Joe Wheeler to score from 25 meters. 19 all with the kick to come , which through the boot of Faulkner was never in doubt.
Final score Oxford 19- Alton 21
