The travelling IvyBridge proved just too strong up front for a valiant Alton Colts side. The game was played with great quality from both sides with both defences in the first half coming out the winners. The first half saw both sides not give an inch on the gain line, both sides taking the points on offer with IvyBridge leading 6-3 at half time. Alton had looked the more threatening in the first half creating a number of breaks in the outside channels.

The second half saw IvyBridge change their game plan and delivered a high quality forwards focused attack on the Alton 8. They gained ground a yard at a time retaining possession for phase after phase as they slowly made yards up field. Again the Alton defence battled and made it difficult for the IvyBridge 8. The second half saw the visitors score 3 close range forward tries.

Congratulations to the Colts for a great cup run. 132 sides started in the National Cup with our Colts doing the club and themselves proud reaching the last 8. To IvyBridge we wish them good luck in their semi-final and to Alresford who made it possible for the game to go ahead, thank you, they hosted us exceptionally, pre, during and post the match.
