Alton travelled to Winchester focussed on an improved performance from the performance the previous week at Andover. Alton really stepped up dominating territory, whilst giving Winchester no space to play. Tackle after tackle from both sides provided an entertaining and very watchable game.
Half time saw Winchester lead 14 -7 after two tries scored from the Winchester backs after two moments when Alton relaxed a little more than they should have.
The final score of Winchester 26 - Alton 7 flattered the opposition, in what was an evenly fought game. The outstanding player of the game was George Frend who, ruck after ruck, arrived first and competed , turning over numerous balls.
For those at Training Thursday, the measured time that the ball was in play was...……………….22 minutes of the 70 elapsed. It will make sense to the squad!
Onwards and upwards, the squad travels to Guildford next Sunday for a "friendly" and an opportunity to improve once more and come away with a "W".
A game everyone should be proud of.
