This really was a game of two halves. Alton started strongly putting the visiting Winchester side under pressure from the start. Two converted tries playing up the slope saw Alton lead at half time 14-12. The game was played at high intensity and with great physicality from both side.
The second half saw Alton suffer a number of key injuries in vital positions which presented Winchester with more success in their attacks. Winchester took advantage of their opportunities in the second half against a weakened Alton 15, coming out 33-14 winners. A great performance by both sides in what was an skilled physical battle between two talented sides.
