Membership and Player Registration 2025/2026

Dear Members

Ahead of the start of the new season we wanted to outline our membership fees and structure along with a few important messages.

You will see from the membership structure below that in order to meet risings costs we have had to increase fees but we have kept increases as low as possible. Based on feedback from members we have also introduced a family membership category which will benefit coaches, players, and other parents/guardians with multiple children playing junior rugby.

Student Player£50 For students living away, with limited availability to play
Club Member£70 Includes social members, parents/guardians, club volunteers, and ‘pay-as-you-play’ seniors**

Junior Memberships*
Age Grade (U14 to Colts)£100 Free with Family Membership
Kids First (U7 to U13)£85 Free with Family Membership

* Junior Memberships must have an associated Adult Membership** ‘Pay-as-you-play’ members must pay a £10 match fee per match in which they play in addition to the Club Member fee

We have a great community of volunteers at Alton Rugby Club both on the playing side through Coaches, Team Managers and First Aiders as well as on the club operation & management side ensuring we can develop the Best Rugby Experience in Hampshire. We understand some members believe their volunteering activities exempt them from paying fees. We would like to make it clear that this is not club policy and at Alton we look to recognise volunteers in other ways. We set our membership fees based on the projected membership numbers and with the assumption that everyone will pay their fees. Not only is this equitable for all members, it is vital for our financial stability. We would also take this opportunity to remind members that we never want the fees to be a barrier to playing rugby and will consider concessions where needed. Please contact Nina Goodyear, our membership secretary, in confidence to discuss available options.

I would also like to take the opportunity to remind you of what you get in return for your membership:

 10% Discount at the clubhouse bar
 Preferential rates for hiring the clubhouse
 Access to a great coaching team
 Opportunity to attend strength and conditioning training provided by One Element at no additional cost
 Free summer touch league
 Onsite physiotherapy clinics and support
 15% discount on private physiotherapy for players (10% for non-players)
 Free post-match meals for all players
 Match day kits
 Entry into the international ticket ballot
 Regular social events
 Full voting rights at the club’s AGM
 Option to play occasional rugby through pay as you play membership and match fees

I am sure you are all looking forward to the start of next season, none more so than our new Director of Rugby Stuart Jackson (Jacko) who says:

“I am really looking forward to my first season at Alton and leading the on-field development of players and coaches. I believe we have an exciting program to continue to develop the Best Rugby Experience in Hampshire. This includes best practice sharing, mentorship & feedback loops, collaboration & integration, continued professional development as well a guest coaching and working closely with the community coaching team of our local Premiership club, as well as their DPP. We will run sides for every age grade, women’s, colts and two men’s teams in the coming year, while continuing to develop our age grade girls offering”

Nina will be writing out to all members on how to register and pay your membership for the 2025/26 season. Please try to do this as early as possible to ensure the continued success of our club ahead of what will be our centenary year in 2026/27 with our centenary match being played in April 2026.
