Tough Competition for the U8s at New Milton

The skies cleared just as the matches began at Sunday’s festival in New Milton, giving us a fantastic morning of rugby in the sunshine. The Under 8s were in a strong group and were rocked back by an early narrow defeat to Romsey, but no disgrace as the victors would go on to win the tournament. A win over Ellingham & Ringwood 2 was followed by an all action 5-5 draw against Salisbury, and despite a valiant effort again the host side New Milton, we came up just short. A play-off win over Ellingham & Ringwood 1 saw some with great offloading and straight running,
sending everyone home with a feel-good factor.

A great all-round effort against some impressive sides, and some fine individual performances from the Alton team. Special mention to Alexander & Joseph Smythe who got out of their sick beds and gave everything out there!! Thanks to everyone for making the long journey down and for the fantastic support.
