This afternoon’s festival at Portsmouth RFC brought inclement weather and some new opposition, including Windsor and Southwark. Our squad was split into two teams, and just as the games began the heavens opened ... and the rain stopped just as we finished!
With increasingly heavy conditions underfoot and a ball like a bar of soap, it was difficult for any team to play free-flowing rugby. But our boys dug in and both teams produced some excellent rugby and a few fantastic scores along the way. The ‘1s’ gave as good as they got, created some fantastic attacking play, and deserved more from their games in terms of results. After an impressive comeback in their first game, the ‘2s’ proved stubborn throughout and got their rewards.
Special mention to Ned for scoring his debut try today - we’ll done Ned! Thank you to all the parents for sacrificing another Sunday, and to my fellow coaches for their support today.
