A fantastic morning at New Milton with the under 9s giving a great account of themselves. Despite the cold and wind, the boys started fast and beat Romsey 9-7 with Gethin Jones and Jake Lloyd running very well and James Manning tackling bravely. Next up was a 7-6 thrilling win against a strong Fordingbridge side with Alex Levey tackling really well and Toby Arrowsmith terrorising the defence with his mazy running to edge a win. A strong Overton side proved a tough test in our third game as they won 6-4 but the boys never gave up and Zac D’Arcy found his form with a couple of strong running long range tries backed up by Harry White running in for a brace as well. Straight after this game the boys were on against Winchester and edged another exciting game 4-3, with Archie Williams barging his way up the middle of the pitch to make space for his team mates to score. The ‘Incredible Hulk’ award for best tackler, voted for by coaches, went to Cameron Grinstead who, despite being the smallest player on the pitch, tore into the opposition ball carriers. The ‘Endeavour’ award, voted for by the watching parents, went to Oscar Thirlwall for some heroic last ditch tackles and his fast feet in attack.

Well done to all the boys for continuing to improve their core skills. Another great chance to get better again next week with festivals at Basingstoke and Farnborough.
