Alton Under 10s enjoyed a successful evening on Friday in a triangular fixture with Petersfield and Portsmouth. On a big pitch, rolling games of 10 minutes were played non-stop for 90 minutes and the Alton team acquitted themselves very well.
Following the first two tournaments of the season the focus for the night was on offloading, support play and securing the ball at the ruck.
Simply, all the boys played superbly all evening with every game of a high standard against both teams. At times the offloading went through over 10 phases with Jake Lloyd, DeVillers Naude, Henry Barttelot and Tom Stevens all showing great skill to repeatedly pass the ball out of the tackle. In defence, the usual strong tackling was on show and Zach Hayward, Liam Smith, Daniel Corbett, Sam Wey and Hector Reece all led by example by repeatedly stopping boys bigger than themselves. In attack all the boys played well but Teddy Carvosso and Khalis Merhouni particularly stood out with some stunning long range tries.
Well done to all for a really entertaining evening’s rugby.
