Alton U14's beat Camberley today with a strong performance to emerge 41-5 winners (7T to 1T). A slightly sleepy start from Alton let Camberley score the first try of the match but Alton responded by tightening up their defence and preventing Camberley from crossing the line again for the remainder of the match. Alton's attack took a while to warm up but a great individual effort from Jonny Maddock playing at full back, having picked the ball up off his toes from a Camberley clearing kick got us off the mark, followed by a score from Matt Salisbury to take us into the break two tries to one up. The Alton boys woke up fully in the second half and played with great intensity to score a further five tries (Josh Gregory x 2, Matt Smoothy, James Richardson, Jonny Maddock), three of which were converted (one by Josh Law and two by Greg Carter). The stand out try was a whole team effort, with the forwards creating great front foot ball and some great hands through the back line for Jonny to score his second of the day. As always, there are things for us to work but overall a job well done today.
