We played this friendly as a triangular fixture with Farnham bringing along two squads. With no subs our players were up for playing two teams.
In the first game, Farnham were first to score after about 6 minutes, 0-5. Alton was dominant in the scrum, once again winning almost every scrum and creating a good platform both offensively and defensively. Farnham managed to score again just before half time 0-10. In the second half the forward pack were in control throughout the game, breaking the gain line time again with their running. Sam, Ben and Conway made big ground for us. Rucking and counter rucking was generally good, we grabbed a couple of key turnovers which helped the defensive effort and ended up with Lewis scoring a try for CHAlton and kicking the conversion, 7-10. Five minutes before the end of the first game Farnham scored final score 7-15.
After a 10 minute break the second game began against a different Farnham team.
Defensively, our tackling was solid often stifling the opposition and frustrating the Farnham attack, however we did have lapses of concentration which meant we had a few handling errors, which led to a disjointed attack and Farnham managed to score twice in the first half of this game 0-12 at half time. Second half and despite some tired legs the boys didn't give up. Our physical dominance through out the game resulted in a try for Ben. Final score 5-12
