8 converted tries in the game but nothing separated the two sides.

Alton travelled to Tottonians who were yet to register a win in Division 1. The game showed a real desire and commitment from Tottonians from the start. Alton dominated the first 15 minutes scoring two converted tries is what looked to be a return to form for the red and blacks. Totts had a different idea and continued to demonstrate a real team effort to compete for every ball, and to their credit started to win most of the breakdowns as a result of their urgency and tenacity.

The game went from one end to the other and Alton , although not having the best ball managed to score two further tries which had been answered by 3 from Totts. Two injuries, a shoulder dislocation and a cut eye, had weakened the Alton resolve.

1 minute to go and ALton led 28-21. Alton secured turnover ball in their 22 and for some reason decided to run rather than exit, a decision that would come back to haunt them. A penalty for not releasing at the ruck, some chat and Totts were 15 meters from the Alton line. Last play was called by the referee and Totts put the ball to a line-out on the Alton 5 meter line. Totts secured the lineout and after 4 phases crashed over the line mid way between the touch line and the posts. A pressure kick for the Totts 10, who hadn't missed a conversion all day. "Great kick "and the game ended 28-28.

Next week sees the squad face Maidenhead on the 4G in the National Colts cup. With a number of injured players returning, a strengthened Alton side will be prepared for what will be the biggest challenge of the season so far.
