Arrived on the island with just 15 players and with at least 3 of those carrying injuries.
Super 2's knew if they won they would win the league, unfortunately this didn't go to plan against a well drilled Ventnor side who had at least 20 players to make changes as and when.
First half saw Ventnor put on all the pressure and race into an early lead with 2 tries and conversions to match. Alton although under the cosh kept up their fighting spirit as shown all season and managed to go over the line Alex Hayward with the score, conversion missed. About 15 mins from the end of the first half Alton lost Hayward to an injury taking us down to 14, with credit to ventnor they supplied us with a player to make it even in numbers. Although back to 15 Alton conceded tries in the last 15 mins of the first half. Half time score 26-5.
Second half Alton stood firm and scored Ali Dow going over to make the score 26-10.
Again Alton showed grit and determination but couldn't get points on the board and eventually in the last minutes of the game Ventnor scored again.
Super 2's lost but finished 2nd in the league and gained promotion.
