AGE GRADE AFFILIATION

AGE GRADE AFFILIATION

Steve Jenkins3 Sep 2021 - 15:12

From Season 2021/22 Age Grade Registration is being re-named Player Affiliation to align with the adult game.

Registration/ Affiliation with the RFU.

The RFU is the Governing Body of rugby union in England. They have a requirement for all players to be registered on their Game Management System (This then provides necessary insurance and other support aspects to the player and club). This process is known as Age Grade Affiliation.

Age Grade Player Affiliation is a fully online annual process for club players between U6 to U18. RFU Regulation requires players to be affiliated online each season within 45 days of the start of the season or from first joining the club.

This simple process involves a players’ parent / guardian affiliating their child on an annual basis on the RFUs Game Management System (GMS) and being approved by the Club Registrar. The process has been further enhanced ahead of the 2021/22 season to make it all easier for parent/players and club volunteers to action.

EXISTING PLAYERS

For an existing player, the parent updates a child’s details with any new medical information, emergency contact details and consents, linked directly from their own Personal Profile page. A helpful guide is available here

NEW PLAYERS

For brand new players, there is a simple Profile creation and affiliation system on the same platform in GMS here.

The online, parent-led process ensures that parents and players are in control of their unique individual record through their lifetime in rugby, ensuring data security and compliance with applicable data protection law. It provides more consistent, accurate and up-to-date information for clubs and the RFU to help players and parents enjoy their Age Grade Rugby and transition into the adult game.

This process is now mobile optimised and enables parents to log onto GMS using their mobile devices to complete the process.

Please note that you do not need to buy membership through the GMS system but do that through the process detailed here.

Communication

We need to ensure that we can contact you, if required, so please ensure all your preferred contact details are up to date in your registration documents (Both on the club website and the RFU GMS)
It is part of the rugby philosophy that you are involved in your child’s rugby development. Please ensure that you build a relationship with the coach and support the club by completing all paperwork required. If you have a concern relating to the welfare of your son/ daughter always contact the safeguarding officer

Getting involved in the club

Ever thought of volunteering? There are many areas within the club, and we rely on volunteers to run the club. Players and coaches are vitally important but so are the many dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to help the club function.
Without this support our club would not run! There will be jobs to suit you, the time you have, and that you may even enjoy! You don’t have to be a rugby expert to get involved, you could be a valued rugby volunteer.
While the benefits of volunteering are specific to each individual, the inclusive environment of a community rugby club is a rewarding place to be for people with differing sets of skills. There are opportunities to get involved for people of all ages, and some of the benefits include:

 Building self-esteem and confidence
 Learning and developing new skills
 Enhancing work experience and building a CV
 Being active and improving health and wellbeing
 Meeting new people and broadening your social network
 Giving something back to the game you love
 Making a difference in the community
 Having fun
